The tenth anniversary commemorations of the status of Lixa as a city, promoted by the City Hall of Felgueiras in June18th, 2005, were marked by the inauguration of the Municipal Library's dependency and exhibit space in the Lixa House of Culture.
Slowly, the Lixa House of Culture, set in the former local firemen headquarter, began to gain its shape. After having a pre-school and the Town's Public Cabinet - whose Treasure-house started working recently - installed there, the exhibit space and the library's dependency were inaugurated, with the construction of an auditory currently in its execution phase.
The inaugurated space, with about 200 m2, absorbed a City Hall investment of about 200.000 euros, and is located on the upper floor of the building, whose access can also be made through an elevator. Regarding the library's dependency, it has about 5.000 books, three computers connected to the Internet and is open during the same working hours as the Library of Felgueiras. The exhibit space is quite large, hosting a permanent exhibition on Leonardo Coimbra, identical to the one circulating throughout the country and some European countries, as well as other temporary exhibitions.
