The Casa do Risco's purposes are to intervene in the certification of the embroidering's quality process, to define and implement a quality certification system and a support structure, to promote the local embroidering, its commercialization and activities of cultural, social, promotional, commercial and technological nature.
To promote the qualification of the local embroidering and embroiderers are the objectives of this institution set in Airães, in Casa do Rosso.
The partner-founders of the association are the City Hall of Felgueiras, the Parochial Church of Santa Maria de Airães, the Traditional Arts Center (CRAT), the Institute for Employment and Professional Training (IEFP), the Ministry of Culture (through its Regional North Delegation), asides from some individuals, whose frontmen or representatives signed the writing to Casa do Risco.
Taking advantage of the Summer holidays, the City Hall of Felgueiras, through Casa do Risco, annually promotes intensive Summer courses with a package of Initiation to Embroidering for the Young workshops. "Cross Stitch", "Cases" and "Full Embroidering" were some of those workshops. The initiatives promoted to this day have been financed by Adersousa through the Leader II Program - Keep Innovating, directed towards the young public aged between 6 and 16.
After the works for the definitive setting of Casa do Risco (a project that currently congregates more than 600 of Felgueiras' embroiderers) and this national cultural and artisan patrimony's certification of quality and marketing were concluded, it was inaugurated in May 26th, 2000.
The inauguration was signaled by the presence of the Bishop of Porto, D. Armindo Lopes Coelho, the Minister for Equality, Dr. Maria de Belém Roseira, the State Secretary for Consumer Defense, Acácio Manuel de Frias Barreiros and the State Secretary for Agricultural Development, Eng. Vítor Manuel Coelho Barros, as well as the Mayor of Felgueiras, Dr. Fátima Felgueiras, among other notorious and other citizens who wanted to participate in this cultural event.
